As new products continue to appear in today’s market, with a large variety of high prices, it is easy to be fall into the trap of “buying it cheaper.” But is this a safe habit to have while shopping online or in stores?
A good amount of people in the internet review many different products which tend to include links on where to purchase them. Many of these links lead to websites such and Amazon and Ebay which already have a reputation of selling counterfeit products. These, however, are not the only places where you can be fooled to believe you are buying the original.
The best way to identify which products are counterfeit is by going to the company website and Identifying authorized retailers. I have spent some time looking into these companies that I have used or used to and came up with the chart below.
If you have been purchasing these products at the specific stores mentioned, there is a possibility that you have been purchasing counterfeits.
Hair Care Line | Authorized to Sell |
DevaCurl | Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom, Chatter (CAN), Devachan salon |
Shea Moisture | Walmart, Walgreens, Ulta, Target, Rite Aid, Sally Beauty, Meijer, Kroger, Giant, Face Values, Duane Reade, Drugstore.com, CVS Pharmacy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Christmas Tree Shops, |
Eden Bodyworks | CVS, Fred’s HEB, Independent, Kroger, Rite Aid, Sally Beauty Supply, Target, Walmart, |
Pacifica Beauty | Ulta, Target, Whole Foods, Sprouts |
TGIN | Target, Walmart, CVS, Sally Beauty, Walgreens, Rite Aid & some beauty supply stores (check site) |
Mielle Organics | CVS, Walmart, Target, Sally Beauty, Walgreens, Wakefern food corp, Harmon, Giant Eagle, Bed Bath and Beyond, Fred Meyer, ShopRite, Ahold, Jewel-osco, Tops, Harveys Supermarket, Kroger, Albertsons, Rite Aid, JC Penny & some beauty supply stores (check site) |
These are just some of the brands that I have tried previously. The best way to find out where you can purchase products is by going to the “where to buy” or “store locator” section of the retailer’s website. If you do not see this information anywhere on their site, then you should assume you can only buy directly from their website.
I hope you find this information helpful. Share if the comments below if you have had any bad experiences with products and later on realized they were counterfeit.
