Summer Hair Care: Dealing with Rainy Days
Summer weather can be unpredictable. One moment it’s sunny, and the next, it’s raining. This can make styling your hair tricky. It’s tempting to go for a wash and go. But, the rain can ruin your efforts. This is especially true if you’re planning to head outside.
Why Rainy Days Make Wash and Go Difficult
If you wash your hair before going out on a rainy day, it can take forever to dry. You could use a hairdryer, but there’s a risk: the rain will wet your hair again. This makes the effort feel pointless, especially if you don’t plan on staying inside all day.
My Wash and Go Routine for Rainy Days
My routine is fairly simple, but this year, I’ve tried styling my hair while it’s soaking wet. After conditioning, I leave my hair wet instead of squeezing out all the excess water. Then, I apply my styling cream from the mid-shaft to the tips of my hair. I scrunch the product into my hair and remove excess water as I go. I usually stick to just two products. If my hair needs refreshing, I’ll use a mist of rose water or regular water after the gym.
Why This Routine Works for My Hair
I prefer this method because it helps my hair stay in its natural state. After watching several DevaCut videos on YouTube, I learned that hair absorbs more product when wet. As it dries, the product settles on dry strands and soaks into the moist ones. This is especially helpful for high-porosity hair, which struggles to keep moisture.
Consistency Is Key
Your routine should stay consistent, but you need to adjust based on weather. Nature plays a big role in how your hair behaves. Sometimes you may just have to put on a hat or wait an extra day before styling your hair. Wearing a protective style is another choice.
