DevaCurl Super Curly Miracle Workers: Revive Your Curls in 2017
Editor’s Note (Updated 2026): This article reflects my experience with DevaCurl’s Super Curly Miracle Workers collection as it existed in 2017. Since then, the product line has been discontinued and DevaCurl has undergone significant changes, including new ownership, reformulated products, and updated branding. I’m leaving this review available for historical reference. For a broader look at the brand’s evolution, read The History of DevaCurl: From Curly Hair Pioneer to Industry Controversy.
I recently revisited DevaCurl products after a several-year hiatus. The last time I used the No Poo cleanser and One Condition was in 2015 when the Decadence line launched. Since then, many new products have been released. As a result, I was excited to see how DevaCurl worked with my curls now.
Deciding to Try DevaCurl’s Super Curly Miracle Workers
Before purchasing the Super Curly Miracle Workers kit, I read countless reviews. I considered buying larger bottles, but I hesitated.
What if my hair didn’t respond well?
The smaller kit from Sephora seemed like the safest choice, especially since there were mixed reviews about the Buildup Buster.
Ultimately, I decided to take the plunge and test out the products.
Revisiting the DevaCurl Decadence Line
The Decadence No Poo and One Condition were my first DevaCurl products. My hair didn’t respond well to them back then, but I’ve learned a lot since. This time, I was prepared for better results. My shampoo choices weren’t the best, and my hair became dry. Nonetheless, returning to these products helped restore my curl pattern.

How I Use DevaCurl Products: My Routine
I followed the techniques I’d seen at Devachan salons. First, I massaged the No Poo into my scalp with a shampoo brush, then rinsed with lukewarm water.
Next, I applied One Condition, followed by my routine. I believe this process helped keep my hair hydrated.
Styling with DevaCurl: Light Defining Gel
The DevaCurl Light Defining Gel worked wonders on my curls. Unlike other gels that leave hair crunchy, this one glided on smoothly. When mixed with the styling cream, it created the perfect combo for my curls. I was pleased with the results, and unlike other gels, it provided the definition I needed without crunch.
Reviewing DevaCurl’s Styling Cream
I wasn’t impressed with the Styling Cream. Though lightweight, it didn’t give enough moisture for my dry hair. So, I think it would work best for people with oilier hair. For my curls, it didn’t live up to expectations and left me wanting more.
Looking back (2026): If I were testing this product today, I’d pay much closer attention to how I applied it and the time of year I was using it. My hair was very dry then, and I’ve since learned that application technique and seasonal changes can significantly affect how lightweight styling products perform. Rather than rewriting my original opinion, I’m leaving it here as part of my journey.
Deep Sea Repair & Melt Into Moisture Masks
Two standout products were the Deep Sea Repair Mask and Melt Into Moisture. After using the Melt Into Moisture mask, my hair felt deeply nourished, and I noticed significant improvements. I didn’t use the Deep Sea Repair as much, but it worked well when I did. Overall, both masks are great additions to a curly hair care routine.
