A detailed view of my hair’s dryness

It’s been a while and this post is long overdue. My hair has gone through some dramatic changes in the past four years. I was blonde for some time and did a big chop earlier this year.

I have many topics I’m eager to cover. Today, I want to focus on how I began to tackle the increase in dryness in my hair. After moving from New York to super hot Texas, I faced several new challenges to maintaining healthy curls. One major obstacle is the hard water. But that is a post for another day.

Since moving to a warmer climate, my hair has been slowly adjusting. On the bright side, I’m no longer living in an area with high levels of pollution. This has been a welcome change.

Over a year ago, I discovered Natura. It is a Brazilian brand that has been expanding its product line to the United States. I was skeptical at first. But after trying their Murumuru Restoring Hair Mask, I have been excited to explore more of their products.

This mask promises to restore your hair’s health deep down to the core. It recharges its nutrients and strengthens it. The mask also infuses extra moisture and seals split ends. Additionally, it boosts shine while improving elasticity.

And I have to say, it left a great first impression!

The mask has a lovely scent that’s noticeable but not overpowering. Its texture is thick yet soft, with great slip, making it easy to apply. Plus, it has a surprisingly long shelf life.

My Experience

As my hair grew longer, tangling became a bigger issue. The moment I applied the Murumuru Restoring Hair Mask, I noticed how much softer my hair was. Detangling became much easier. I even tried it on my husband. He has looser curls than I do. He had the exact same experience.

Through continued use of the mask I had reduced dryness and longer hold in my curls between washes. This will pair well with any shampoo and conditioner you currently use.

A Few Cons

There was one downside to this product that I should mention: it didn’t pass the Curly Girl Method test. Specifically, it contained four ingredients that aren’t considered Curly Girl-approved. But if you’re not concerned about silicones in your products, I’d still recommend giving it a try.

While the mask did contain some ingredients that some people may avoid, it’s important to note that many products are unfairly marked as “bad” by apps like Think Dirty just because of a few questionable ingredients. In my opinion, the overall effectiveness of this product outweighed these concerns.

I’ll go more in-depth about the updated research on silicones in a future post, but in the meantime, you can use Curlsbot to get a breakdown of the good and bad ingredients in this and any other product.

Who Will Benefit

This mask is ideal for curly hair, especially those with coarser textures. While the 200g (7.05 oz) container was enough for my hair texture and length, people with thicker, coarser hair may find the amount too small for their needs. I’m hopeful that as the brand grows, they’ll offer larger sizes to accommodate different hair types.

The Murumuru Restoring Hair Mask is currently priced at $34.00 for 200g (7.05 oz). You can get a 10% discount by using my code ANAPOKORA10 at checkout or by following the link above.

Final Thoughts

If you’re dealing with dry, damaged hair and want to restore moisture, shine, and strength, this product is definitely worth considering. Whether you’re following the Curly Girl Method or not, it offers great results for a variety of hair types!
